Monopoly

I went on my first skate of the year yesterday, and what a way to start. It was the 5th Aniversary of the friday night skate, so they were doing a monopoly board skate i.e. visiting all the locations on the board. The route was 22 miles starting at hyde park corner and finnishing near tower bridge having just viseted old kent road. At one point whilst going along Pentonville Road (long and uphill!) I was wondering if I was going to be able to make it past the seccond stop, but the free redbull at the stop gave me the energy to complete the route. This made be happy, but oh did I ache thismorning.

I had planned on going on the wednesday skate so that I could ease myself back in by doing a slightly shorter route, but I instead ended up staying in the union at council to see what the outcome of the smoking ban paper would be . In the end it was passed with a minor amendment.

Exams and Sport

I have now done 1/2 of my exams as I had 4 in 4 days over the last week. The next 4 are slightly more spread out with ones on Thursday and Friday this week, and then wednesday and Thursday the following week.

What with the weather getting nicer we decided to have a BBQ on saturday, the difficulty of course being the fact that we don’t have a garden (or rather access to the garden). That didn’t cause any problems as there is a little courtyard outside the front of the house so I set the 2 disposable BBQ’s up on the little cupboard that has the electricity meters in and cooked out there. We then ate in the lounge which was a little cosy as there were 7 of us, and our lounge only just fits a 3 seater sofa and the TV. I shall be going to another BBQ tomorrow (3rd of the year), hopefully it will be a little more spacious.

Today I finally got around to going and picking up the sails for my boat from my Aunt’s house, which I had been meaning to do ever since I got the moped back. I then went to the Sailing club to renew my membership, as it was due a month ago. Unfortunately the racing had finished by the time I got there, but I decided that I may as well go for a sail as I was there and it wasn’t raining. There wasn’t a great deal of wind though it did pick up for a bit, though having checked the online stats since getting home it has now annoyingly got windier. Never mind though as I should get some nice windy sails, as I hope to go sailing most weekends unlike last year when I only made it twice before the moped packed in making it about £50/hr, This year I have already got it down to about £80/hr.

It looks like I will be quite busy now in the evenings and weekends as I have discovered that the wednesday night skates have started (in fact I have missed at least 2). I also hope to give the friday night skates a go too, though the second half may be a bit fast for me (there’s only one way to find out!). This will mean that my weekly schedule is likely to be:
Monday – Climbing or Swimming
Tuesday – Bar
Wednesday – Skating
Thursday – Climbing
Friday – Skating
Saturday and/or Sunday – Sailing.
All this for someone who isn’t really that sporty.

Busy

So it’s got to the stage of the term when it becomes really busy. Next week is the Dramsoc play, so was helping Andy on wednesday and yesterday with the lighting setup, and said I would give him a hand again today to help with the Plot. After the dramsoc show we then have the medics and that is then followed by the MTSoc Show “A Slice of saturday Night” which I am lighting. And then of course there is thomas’ school. All this with a couple of great hall shows thrown in for fun.

So not only is it going to be a busy time with Dramsoc for the rest of the term, but just at the same time we have now been set courseworks in all of the subjects that I am taking this term, the first of which is due in on monday.

Despite it going to be a busy time I still want to find some time to go swimming, I managed to go twice again this week swimming a mile each time, I want to keep this up to regain some fitness. If I can get people back into coming it would also bed nice to start climbing again, it will have to remain at the westway for now as they are not sure when the climbing wall at the new sports centre will be opening.
